St. Joseph County District Court officials said Jiminez Lopez, age 24, has been arraigned after he allegedly drove a vehicle into the rear of a car that killed a 6-month-old boy Nov. 1 in Mendon Township.
Lopez is charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing death, driving with a suspended license and operating under the influence causing death.
Charges stem from an incident that occurred on M-60 at Angevine Road. Investigators said Mendon resident Samantha Adams, age 30, was stopped on M-60 and waiting to turn left onto Angevine Road. Her vehicle was allegedly struck by a car being driven by Lopez.
Alden Adams was in critical condition and transferred to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Bond has been set at $150,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 22.

Mr. Lopez was also an illegal immigrant in this country.
And that means what Derek? Do you actually know that or is this just gaslighting? Or is it that you don’t want illegals in this country because YOU would like to do all the grunt work THEY do?
Craig Ball, it means several things to the grieving families. One, had he not been in the Country this would not have happened. Two, had he not entered the Country the third time after being removed for crimes and being illegal it would not have happened. Three, if he had been in jail for the previous arrests (not for being illegal) it would not have happened. Finally, illegal is illegal and they are a serious detriment to this country criminally and economically. A plague upon the United States.
