Millard S. “Buster” Lantz, 95, of White Pigeon, died at 9:25 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born Aug. 4, 1914, to Lester H. and Amanda (Detweiler) Lantz in
St. Joseph County, Ind. On March 6, 1937, he married Helen M. Griffin in Goshen. She died July 25, 2002.
He is survived by three daughters, JoAnne (Karl) Holmes and Nancy Isbell of Elkhart, and Patricia (Tom) Hosler of Bristol; a son, Charles (Sheila) Lantz of White Pigeon; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Richard Lantz and Marion Lantz; a sister Claudine Beach; and four grandsons.
Mr. Lantz had been employed as a milk inspector in Elkhart County and worked at Grady Milk Company, retiring from the District Health Department of St. Joseph County, Mich. He was a former Mottville Township trustee and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and loved his cat, Zip.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Ron Spyker from Jefferson Brethren Church will officiate. Burial will be at Mottville Cemetery in Michigan.
