Paul Stemen, age 78 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Thursday
November 5, 2009 at the Community Health Center of Branch County in
Coldwater.
He was born November 14, 1931 in LaGrange County, Indiana a son to the
late Stanley and Mildred (Dunifin) Stemen.
He had resided most of his life in the Sturgis and Bronson area and
graduated from Bronson High School with the class of 1950.
Paul retired from the Kirsch Company in Sturgis following 40 years of
dedicated employment.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1950-1954 aboard the USS
Stephen Potter earning the rank of Boatswain’s Mate 3^rd Class and was a
life member of Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW in Sturgis.
He is survived by One Son; John Stemen, Two Step-Sons; Lucky Hutchison
of Bronson and Dave (Mary Lou) Hutchison of Sturgis, Six Grandchildren;
April Stroh of Sturgis, Dale Butcher of Vicksburg, Leslie Willis of
Royal Oak, Kyle (Mandy) Butcher of Fairbanks, Alaska, Jenna (Derek)
Mathieu of Portage and Evan Hutchison of Sturgis, Several Great
Grandchildren, Two Brothers, Art and Wesley, Sister; Barbara and several
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Zella Stemen, brother;
Bud Stemen and step-daughter; Pat Surette.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial
service celebrating the life of Paul Stemen will be held at Captain John
J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW in Sturgis at a later date to be announced.
Private burial of the ashes will take place at Fort Custer National
Cemetery in Augusta.
