William Louis Eckler Sr., age 57, of Burr Oak, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at his home.
He was born July 9, 1965 in Rochester, New York.
William graduated from Westview High School in Emma, Indiana with the class of 1983 and shortly after graduating move to Sturgis, and began working at Burr Oak Tool & Gauge, where he has been employed for the past 39 years.
In June of 1984 he married Sheri Yoder and this marriage ended in divorce.
William enjoyed golfing, collecting many unique items, and was a fan of the Pittsburg Steelers and Notre Dame.
Surviving are one son: William L. Eckler Jr. and one daughter: Andrea Eckler both of Shipshewana; 2 grandchildren: Madison Elmore and Brentlee Elmore; and a brother: Robert Eckler.
William was preceded in death by his mother: Carroll Ann Chase, his grandmother who raised him: Sylvia Langow, and one sister: Tina Eckler.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.
The family suggest memorial donations be directed to Polar Bears International, P.O. Box 3008, Bozeman, MT 59772 or the Michigan Butterfly Network, 7400 Division Dr., Battle Creek, MI 49014.
