Two people have lined up – with more likely to follow – in a bid to become St. Joseph County Sheriff.
Though the election is not until August 2024, Chad Spence and Joe Bingaman have announced their respective candidacies for the four-year term.
Chad Spence is public safety instructor with the St. Joseph County CTE consortium. He announced his candidacy last week via social media through a post that went viral Saturday.
Meanwhile, former sheriff’s department employee Joe Bingaman said he filed paperwork earlier this year in order to appear on the 2024 primary ballot. He is a cousin of current undersheriff Jason Bingaman.
Joe Bingaman said he has contemplated running for sheriff since last May. He worked at the Centreville-based agency for almost 14 years.
