Skip Daugherty, 83

Alice “Skip” May Daugherty, age 83, of Jones, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023. She was born May 14, 1940, in Three Rivers, the daughter of Harry Sr. and Marguerite (Kindig) Everett. She graduated from Constantine High School with the Class of 1958.

On September 20, 1958, Skip married Carl Daugherty and they bought their home on Driskel Lake. She resided there for more than 70 years. Skip was a homemaker and raised three children. They enjoyed camping trips, snowmobiling, bowling, and playing cards with their close friends and families. She enjoyed playing bingo, sewing, and knitting. Very strong and healthy, Skip cut wood for her wood burner until age 70.

Remaining to cherish her memory are daughter, Candy Smith; two sons, Randy, and Danny (Sandy) Daugherty; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Harry “Joe” B. Everett Jr.; and sister, Janice (Tom) Todd.

Skip was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, parents Harry and Marguerite Everett, and infant brother Jon Lester Everett.

Visitation will be Monday, June 5, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Newberg, 13021 Born St., Jones. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 at the church with Pastor Mike Owen officiating. She will be laid to rest at Poe’s Cemetery.
