Roger J. Olds, age 87, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday evening, May 27, 2023, at Rose Arbor Place in Kalamazoo.
He was born February 15, 1936 in Sturgis, son of the late Charles and Kathryn (Saxon) Olds.
Roger resided in Sturgis since 1960 coming from LaGrange, where he was a graduate of LaGrange High School with the class of 1954.
On April 16, 1955 he married Carol Anne Paulus in LaGrange. She preceded him death February 22, 2019.
Roger retired from the Kirsch Company in Sturgis following over 40 years of dedicated employment.
He was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis where he served as a Trustee and in nearly any capacity that he possibly could. He was a life Member of B.P.O.Elks #1381 and Knights of Pythias Lodge #144, LaGrange. He had a passion for the game of golf. Roger found true joy when he was able to lend a hand in helping others.
He is survived by his daughters: Deborah (Robert) Neydon of Sturgis and Susan (Ron) Harter of Howe, Indiana; grandson: Christopher (Jennifer) Neydon; great grandson: Timothy Neydon; brother: Gordon (Lynne) Olds of LaGrange, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; son: Timothy Olds and brother: Jack Olds.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial services celebrating the life of Roger J. Olds will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 17th at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Sue Babb will officiate.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
