Evelyn Ruth Hollenbeck, age 85, of Three Rivers, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023 at her home.
She was born June 2, 1938 in Nottawa Township, the daughter of Earl and Lois St. Clair, and survived polio at the age of 8.
Evelyn worked for a short time with Goodwill Industries.
Her companion was a cat named Charlie, who provided her with many hours of company and entertainment.
Evelyn never had a bad word about anyone or anything. She also made several trips to Alaska and enjoyed the time with her nephew, seeing many of the sites Alaska has to offer. On sightseeing trips in Prince William Sound, she was able to see glaciers and much of the marine life offered in the area. She enjoyed panning for gold and visiting the Reindeer farm in Palmer, Alaska. Anyone who met her enjoyed her company and attitude toward others. Her favorite saying was “WHATEVER.”
Remaining to cherish her memory are her nephew, Ray Hollenbeck, and stepson, Mark Higgins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Jess Hollenbeck.
In accordance with family wishes, cremation will be conducted; no services are planned.
Thanks for your friendship, Evelyn. You endured well here on earth and was the model of how one should live, regardless of the circumstances. May God bestow His blessings upon you throughout the eternities!
