Here’s an update on work being done on U.S. 131 in St. Joseph and Kalamazoo counties, according to Michigan Department of Transportation’s Christopher Jacobs.
Storm sewer work has been completed for the season, permanent sign installation on the outside of the northbound side is finished, concrete curb and sidewalk is done for 2023 and videotaping of culverts is complete.
The two-week outlook includes chip foundations at Main Street, paving and leveling northbound turn lanes and intersections, continuing permanent sign installation on the inside of northbound lanes, guardrail installation on outside shoulders, and permanent pavement markings.
Meanwhile, northbound traffic will be switched to the outside lane on or around Oct. 20.
The two-year, $51 million project covers 13.4 miles of U.S. 131 from the Rocky River bridge in St. Joseph County to Shaver Road in Kalamazoo County.
