Steven Scott Dobberteen, Jr., age 51, of Burr Oak, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at his home.
He was born December 1, 1971 in Sturgis son of Steven Scott and Georgia (Frye) Dobberteen.
Scott resided most of his life in Burr Oak where he was a graduate of Burr Oak High School with the class of 1990.
He had been employed by American Axle in Three Rivers for 10 years and was currently employed by Abbott Laboratories in Sturgis.
Scott was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Navy, earning the rank of Radio Seaman.
Scott enjoyed volunteering his time as assistant coach with the Burr Oak football team. He had a true appreciation for the outdoors enjoying hunting and fishing. Scott was happiest when he was spoiling his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children: Hunter Dobberteen or Bronson and Emily (Zachery) Brinkhoff of South Bend; grandchildren: Owen, Ella and Adaline; mother: Georgia Dobberteen of Burr Oak; brother: Melvin “Buddy” (Tiara) Dobberteen of San Antonio, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and sisters: Ann Stidham and Gretcheina Lin Myers.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Private graveside service and burial of the remains will take place Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, where full military honors will be conferred by the Fort Custer and U.S. Navy Honor Guards.
