Donna J. Dawson, 83, of Bartlett, Ill. and formerly of Three Rivers, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009 in Hoffman Estates, Ill. She was born in Sturgis on July 27, 1926 the daughter of Alvin and Francis (Longster) Dobberteen, and attended Sturgis Schools. She was married to Arthur D. “Red” Dawson on Aug. 27, 1943 in Sturgis. They resided in Three Rivers, where Donna was a cook for Three Rivers Schools for many years, and was briefly employed at the Weyerhaeuser Corp. After Red’s death in 1982, Donna resided in Frankenmuth before moving to the Chicago area.
Donna is survived by a son, David Allen Dawson of Howell; a granddaughter, Lindsay Dawson of Chicago; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter-in-law, Judy Dawson; her brother, Alvin Dobberteen, Jr.; and her sister, Betty Hutchins.
A graveside service will be held at noon today in Riverside Cemetery in Three Rivers with Rev. Gary Carr, Pastor of the Corey Church of the Nazarene, officiating.
