Robert R. Whitney, 74, of Three Rivers, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009 at his home. He was born in Caruthersville, Mo. on Dec. 12, 1934 the son of Roy H. and Leatha V. (Cullom) Whitney. Robert served in the U. S. Army from 1957 to 1963. He worked as a machine operator for Continental Can retiring in 1999. Robert was a member of the Three Rivers Masonic Lodge.
Robert is survived by a son, Randy (Kerry) Whitney of Anchorage, Alaska; two grandsons, Robert and Richard of Anchorage; a sister, Marion (Grady) Overton; four brothers, Rex (Barbara) Whitney, Charles (Midge) Whitney, Jack (Barbara) Whitney and Larry (Cindy) Whitney. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy H. Whitney II and Johnny Whitney; a sister, Peggy Westra.
As per his wishes cremation has been conducted. Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. at the Flowerfield Baptist Church with Bruce Fielis officiating. Interment will follow in Flowerfield Cemetery. Please all who have come to know and love Bob, help us to give him a proper farewell. Military rites will be by Hice-Shutes American Legion Post #170. Memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements were handled by the Eickhoff, Farrand, Halverson Chapel, Three Rivers.
