Wayne Lamar Kline, age 84, of Centreville, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Willowbrook Memory Care of Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis after a courageous battle with Parkinsons. He was born March 9, 1939 in Three Rivers, a son of Harry and Zelma (Schultz) Kline. He attended Three Rivers Schools. On September 12, 1957 he married the love of his life, Mary Lou Gross in Centreville. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2020.
Wayne had worked at Daugherty Donuts, Continental Can in Three Rivers, and Clifton Engineering where he was President of the Gas Division. Following this, Wayne and Mary Lou owned and operated Kline’s Construction Company from 1989 until their retirement in 2006. Wayne was a lifelong member of the Local 190 Union. From the 1950’s to present day, he was part of 4 generations of Kline Racing. He also enjoyed golfing, camping, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, casinos, horse racing, and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his sons Terry Kline (Andria Woermbke) and Michael (Judy) Kline, Centreville; grandchildren Dustin Kline (Erin Holder), Jaime (Chet) Terry, Ashley Kline (Zach Slaton), Michael Kline, Christopher Kline (Harmony Sundberg), Stephen (Ana) Mejeur, Jonathan (Genecia) Mejeur, and Adam (Amanda) Mejeur; great grandchildren Zachary, Aaliyah, Jayda, Ella, Carter, Hadley, Arrianna, Harper, Owen, Evan, Breena, Alayna, Joe, Braylee, Carsyn, Keegan, Weston, Grayson, Chase and Myles; great great granddaughter Nina Mae; and brothers Richard Kline and Roger Kline.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Harry (Dorothy) Kline, Zelma (Buster) Akins; wife Mary Lou Kline; brothers Ivan, Don, and Arden Kline; and sisters Barb Schaeffer and Lois Boulette.
Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday, November 21, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Eley Funeral Home in Centreville. Religious services will be held Wednesday at 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor David Peterson officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie River Cemetery in Centreville.
