William L. Currier, age 93, of Burr Oak, passed away Friday morning, January 5, 2024 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital in Coldwater, Michigan.
He was born December 27, 1930 in Burr Oak, son of the late Leo and Elizabeth (Nussbaum) Currier.
Bill resided nearly his entire life in Burr Oak.
On August 12, 1950 he married Beverly A. Heltzel at the Burr Oak Missionary Church. She preceded him in death August 10, 1985. He later married V. Gaye Nissley May 22, 1987 at the United Brethren Church in Coldwater. She preceded him in death June 21, 2020.
Bill owned and operated Currier Disposal in Burr Oak for over 30 years. Following his retirement he worked part-time at Carter Associates in Burr Oak, and he had also been employed by American Planter in Burr Oak, and was always involved in farming.
He was a longtime member of the Burr Oak Missionary Church and had attended the Sturgis Evangelical Church.
Bill enjoyed hunting, and loved time in the outdoors, especially around the farm.
He is survived by his daughter: Carolyn (Joe) Wickey of Burr Oak; sons: Dennis (Kathy) Currier of Burr Oak and Doug (Rosalie) Currier of Coldwater; daughter-in-law: Rita (Dale) Ultz of Burr Oak; nine grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sister: Mary (Jerry) Cronkhite of Burr Oak; brother: Paul Currier of Sturgis; sister-in-law: Cooky Currier of Burr Oak; step-daughters: LaRae Ganch of California and Dana Dunn of Sherwood and several step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; son: Richard Currier, grandson: Colin; sisters: Elvina Williamson and Catherine Brinkley and brothers: John Currier and Samuel Currier.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Saturday, Jan. 13th at the Burr Oak Missionary Church in Burr Oak where funeral services celebrating the life of William L. Currier will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00. Bill’s son Doug Currier and Pastor Don Matteson will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak. A continued time of fellowship and the sharing of a meal will follow the committal service in the church fellowship hall.
