Carol Beardsley, 75

Carolyn Roberts Beardsley, age 75, of Sturgis, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Avenue of Macedonia Skilled Nursing Facility in Macedonia, Ohio. She was born April 11, 1948 in Sturgis, daughter of the late Eugene and Geneva Roberts.

Carol was a graduate of Sturgis High School class of 1966 and lived most of her life in Sturgis. She married Lonnie Edward Rowe on February 1, 1969 in Sturgis and moved to Jupiter, Florida in 1970. She continued to live in Florida until she and her family moved back to Michigan in 1981. Carol divorced Lonnie in February 1984, and later married Robert Lee Beardsley on September 3, 1988 in Sturgis, until his death in April 1990. She was moved to Kent, Ohio by her daughter, Tammy, in February 2019.

Carol had many jobs over the years but she really enjoyed cooking for others. She was a cook for Howe Military School and summer camp. She also enjoyed her time cooking for travelers at the Holiday Inn in Sturgis. She also spent years helping the elderly as a Home Health Aide for the Commission on Aging. During the summer, she enjoyed spending time swimming at the many local lakes. Carol was involved in the Amish Community, often driving her friends to appointments or events and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Geneva Roberts; her sister, Roberta Krontz; husband Robert Beardsley; and daughter, Holly Rowe.

Carol is survived by daughters, Tammy (Gary) Shoemaker of Northfield, Ohio, Anna (Gary) Sizemore of Sealy, Texas and son, Craig Rowe, of Macedonia, Ohio; and brothers, Dan Roberts of Sturgis, Tom (Judy) Roberts of Sturgis and Rick (Susan) Roberts of Winter Haven, Florida. She is also survived by step-grandchildren, Brittany Wolf and Dustin Wolf as well as step great-grandchildren, Gage, Keira and Caiden of Sturgis, Michigan as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life, planned for the summer of 2024, will be announced at a later date at a location to be determined in Sturgis.
