Marjorie C. Carr, age 79, a lifelong resident of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024 at Thurston Woods Village.
She was born March 17, 1944 in Kalamazoo, a daughter to the late Theodore F. and Cecilia (Kulpinski) Urick.
On June 22, 1963 in White Pigeon, she married Clifford Jay Carr. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Marjorie was employed as a school bus driver for 30 plus years for the Sturgis Public Schools and the Pathfinder Center from 1977-2005 when she retired. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church where she enjoyed volunteering for the school. She also enjoyed working at the Special Olympics and crafting.
Surviving are two daughters: Theresa M. (Marvin) Gage of Centreville, and Cynthia (David) Bir of Calabasas, CA; five grandchildren: Kathryn (Joseph McTarsney) Gage, Victoria Gage, Alexander (Liona) Bir, Rebecca Bir, and Rachel Bir.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson: Christopher Bir (2016), and an infant sister: Mary Kathryn (1943).
The family will receive friends and relatives from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Sunday, at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.
A Rosary Service will be said at 7:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., at Holy Angels Catholic Church, immediately following will be a Funeral Mass at 11:00, Monday, at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Father Andrew Raczkowski, celebrant. A luncheon will follow the Funeral Mass and private interment will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Memorials donations may be directed to Special Olympics, 2600 Virginia Ave. NW, 11th floor, Washington, DC 20037, envelopes are available at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
