Free radon-testing available

Van Buren/Cass District Health Department is offering free radon-testing services throughout January.

Agency officials said they are committed to raising awareness about the dangers of radon gas during Radon Action Month.

Radon is a colorless, odorless and tasteless radioactive gas that can pose health risks when present in elevated levels. Radon Action Month provides an excellent opportunity for residents to take proactive steps in safeguarding their homes, agency officials said.

The kits are simple to use and include detailed instructions for accurate testing. To reserve a test kit through the health department, the local health department must be contacted in advance.

Cass County residents should contact the Environmental Health Secretary, Monday through Thursday, at 269-621-3143 ext. 2006.
