Larry Michael “Moe” Ettinger, age 67, of Mendon, died Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo following a long illness. He was born in Sturgis on March 11, 1956 the son of Eugene and Linda (Bowerman) Ettinger and was a lifetime resident of Mendon. He graduated from Mendon High School with the class of 1974 and was a member of the 1972 State Champion Football team. Moe’s working life included the Rehau Corporation in Sturgis, and for the last 20 years at T-H Plastics in Mendon.
Moe was an active member of the Mendon Community, serving as a volunteer firefighter, and on the Mendon School Board. He and his wife supervised the Rocket Football program for many years. He was a member of the Mendon Quarterback Club, and continued to support Mendon Sports. He rooted for the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and was a fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Moe was married to Susan M. Jones on September 30, 1978 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon. She survives along with three sons and their families: Justin and Corin Ettinger and their children Madilyn and Blake of Stevensville, Eric and Andria Ettinger and their children, Ella, Mack, and Grace of Benton Harbor, and Ryan and Jenn Ettinger and their children, Eli and Emmett, of Alma, and his brother, Terry Ettinger of Mendon.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 pm Sunday, February 25, 2024 at the Eickhoff funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be at 11 am Monday, February 26, 2024 at the Crossroads Missionary Church with Rev. Clint Zehr officiating, followed by a food and fellowship at the church.
