Phyllis J. Johnson, age 95, of Sturgis, passed away Monday, March 4, 2024 at Thurston Woods Village.
She was born July 11, 1928 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of the late Clarence and Janice (Moody) Krock.
Phyllis’s early years were spent in Fort Wayne and Sturgis, where she graduated from Sturgis High School with the class of 1947. She resided in Virginia Beach, Virginia for 30 years before moving to Florida in 1998 where she lived until moving back to Sturgis in 2016.
She was married to Paul N. Johnson who preceded her in death.
Phyllis retired from the City of Virginia Beach following 15 years of handling the city’s workman compensation. Prior to that she had been employed by Aetna Life Insurance Company for 25 years.
She was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in North Ft. Myers and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and spending time with her many friends.
She is survived by two nephews: Michael (Kathy) Krock of Richmond, Texas and Andrew (Linda) Krock of Canyon Lake, Texas; and special friend: Patrick Keller of Huntsville, AL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Colin Krock and Bill Krock and one nephew: Greg Krock.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Phyllis J. Johnson will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091 with The Rev. Father Andrew Roczawski, Holy Angels Catholic Church, officiating.
Memorial donations in her memory may be directed to Holy Angels Catholic Church or Hospice of Sturgis, envelopes are available at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
