Organizers of the twice-a-year collection of household hazardous waste and recycling of electronics have announced an important message regarding the spring 2024 event.
Pat Kulikoswki, secretary of the St. Joseph County Solid Waste Committee, said the county is working with the same drug and lab company that collects household hazardous waste as it did in 2023.
Kulikowski said the company does not have enough staff to work weekends, so this year’s spring collection will take place on a weekday – Thursday, May 2.
It will occur 2 to 6 p.m. at the county fairgrounds.
Kulikowski said final details related to the spring collection are being worked out. Meanwhile, the fall collection will take place – also 2 to 6 p.m. – on Oct. 2.
Collections are typically held on a Saturday but last spring’s weekday collection confirmed the public is equally as responsive during the middle of the week.
