Blanch Overholt, age 94, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Birches Adult Home in Leonidas.
She was born July 8, 1929 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and moved to Burr Oak in 1951 where she has lived most of her life in the Burr Oak and Sturgis area.
She was first married January 25, 1949 to Hugh Wilder. He passed away January 7, 1982. She then married Fred Westra who passed away in 1987, and on May 18, 1990 in Burr Oak, she married Clarence E. Overholt who passed away Dec. 16, 2020.
Blanch had been employed by Doerr Products in Burr Oak for 18 years before they closed. She then was employed by Sturgis Hospital in the Dietary Department and had also worked as a dishwasher at Westside Restaurant, which is now Grambys.
Blanch enjoyed walking, feeding people, and the solitariness of washing dishes.
Surviving are one daughter: Victoria Overholt of Three Rivers; 3 grandchildren:, Clarice (Daniell) Green of Centreville, Austin (Tia) Brooks of Sturgis, and Derek (Jessika) Brooks of Constantine; 3 step-grandchildren: Angela (Dustin) Jasper of Sturgis, Randy (Sidney) Rank of Portage, and Tim (Stacey) Rank of Zeeland, MI; a step-son-in-law: David Rank of Nottawa; a niece: Mary Ann Wilder Maskin of Finleyville, PA; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren;
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a son: Daniel Dale Wilder (1970), a son-in-law: Ronald Overholt (2023), and a step-daughter: Nancy Rank (2023)..
The family will receive friends and relatives from 1:00 to 3:00, Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at His House Foursquare Church, 410 S. Clay St., Sturgis, MI 49091.
Services celebrating the life of Blanch Overholt will be held at 3:00 immediately following visitation, at the church with Pastor Doug Carr, officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in Burr Oak Cemetery.
Memorial donations in her memory may be directed to Erin’s Angel Rescue, 498 Ridge Rd., Quincy, MI 49082. Envelopes are available at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
