Steven James Andrews, age 66, of Sturgis, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo.
He was born August 19, 1957, in Sturgis, son of the late James T. and Evelyn (Luginbill) Andrews.
Steve resided in Centreville for the past 35 years, coming from Sturgis where he was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1975.
He was a talented and gifted welder, fabricator, and auto mechanic. He had been employed by several area companies including Morgan Olson, N&W Welding, Interstate Trailers, and he owned and operated Andrews Automotive.
He was a member of A.P.A. and enjoyed participating in pool leagues, fishing, hunting, bowling, playing golf, and going to stock car races.
He is survived by his fiancée: Deborah Kintigh; children: Christin (Justin) Wells of Sturgis, Timothy (Nicole) Andrews and James (Crystal) Andrews, both of Three Rivers; grandchildren: Christopher Andrews, Saydie Andrews, Robert O’Connell, Brayden Fisher, Kamden Wells, Kaeden Wells, Brennan Wells and Bayah Wells; step-son: David (Lisa) Rundman of Constantine; step-daughter: Lisa (Torel) Nichols of Arizona; several step-grandchildren; sister: Karen (Jim) Haack of Rogers City; sister-in-law: Karen Andrews of Sturgis and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: David Andrews and Michael Andrews and step-grandson: Tyler Hartzell.
In accordance with his wish, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date to be announced.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
