Sturgis begins hydrant flushing

Sturgis city residents are being reminded the city’s department of public services started flushing hydrants this week as part of regular maintenance.

Crews will flush hydrants today in the area south of West Chicago Road and west of South Nottawa Street.

On Thursday, the area north of West Chicago Road and west of North Nottawa Street will be serviced. The last planned day of hydrant flushing is set for Friday, where crews will focus on the area in Sturgis north of East Chicago Road and east of North Nottawa Street.

Should any water discoloration occur in water, residents should let the water flow for several minutes until it becomes clear. If discoloration persists or for questions, residents may call the department of public services at 659-7297.
