John Winifred Pennock, Jr., age 72, of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday morning, April 17, 2024, at his home.
He was born October 18, 1951, in Battle Creek, son of the late John Winifred and Bobbie Jean Elizabeth (King) Pennock, Sr.
John resided in Sturgis for the past 19 years coming from Battle Creek.
On April 13, 2003, he married Anna Bavin in Athens, Michigan.
He had been employed by the City of Battle Creek Water Department for several years and he was a Master Gunsmith.
John enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, prospecting, and had several collections. He loved music and was a talented musician playing the guitar in bands in his early life.
He is survived by his wife: Anna; children: Lisa Ann (Johnny) Williams of Battle Creek, Elizabeth Marie (Dave) Neal of Bedford, John Michael (Rachel) Pennock of Battle Creek and Travis Jackson (Sue Ann) Pennock of Athens; step-sons: Alex (Nick) Daniels of Sturgis, Dominic Bavin of Sturgis and Leslie (Kendra) Bavin of Comstock; 23 grandchildren; two great grandchildren and expecting #3; brothers and sisters: Richard (Jann) Pennock, Barbara Lipps, Jamie (John) Vorva, Leslie (Scott) Antone, Tina Buller, Gina (Rick) Youngblood, Scott Marlow, Aaron Pennock, Carolyn Pennock, Marry Pennock, Nick Sensat, Michael Sensat and Cheryl Taylor and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson: Johnny Allen Wood, II.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
