The Three Rivers Community Players thank those patrons who attended this year’s Make We Merry. The audiences were very receptive, as always, and the performers had as much fun performing as the audience had in watching this annual event. This year, patrons donated their funds as they exited the Performing Arts Center, with all monies collected designated to go to the Emergency Care Network in Three Rivers. A total of almost $1000. was collected. This is just another example of the generosity shown by this community. Because of your generosity, many less fortunate individuals will have a merrier holiday season. Thank you all!
With Christmas less than three weeks away, several area churches are planning live Nativity scenes. The Light and Life Wesleyan Church is a prime example. Located at 15765 Hoffman Road in Three Rivers, just across from the UAW hall, west of US-131, their first annual live Nativity will be reenacted next Sunday, December 13, from 6 to 8 P.M. Along with the reenactment, there will also be a band playing, carolers singing, coffee and conversation for the adults, and crafts and cookie decorating for the kids.
Christmas is not only a time for humans to celebrate a special season, but our pets look forward to the month of December also. The Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) is doing their annual thing with “Pet Pictures with Santa”. The money raised from this project goes toward toward animal welfare right here in St. Joseph County. ARF, working with the Three Rivers TSC store will offer “Pictures with Santa” next Sunday, December 13, from 1 until 4 P.M. Appointments are not necessary.
Founded in 1998 with the purpose of raising funds for animal welfare in St. Joseph County, ARF has reinvested over $98,000 back into the county since that time. Programs funded include animal spay and neuter assistance, as well as pet food distribution at local food banks and COA meal sites. With cold weather coming soon, or already here, more focus will be given to straw bedding for those animals forced to live outside during the winter months.

SIGNS OF WINTER
1. When the clouds in the sky look like horses’ tails, frost is coming.
2. When the hornets’ nests are fat and low, winter will be cold.
3. If the moss on the north side of the tree dries up in the fall, it will be a mild winter.
Another way to get into the Christmas spirit and another example of the talent that abounds right here in the Three Rivers area, is the annual Three Rivers Community School’s Vocal Music Christmas Concert. This annual concert takes place this Thursday, December 10, at 7 P.M. It features groups of students from grades six through twelve. Once again, the Three Rivers High School Performing Arts Center will be the venue. This is just another opportunity to take the family out for a FREE helping of Christmas spirit.
