Schoolcraft – US-131 construction update

The Michigan Department of Transportation’s Chris Jacobs has issued the agency’s first update regarding the second phase of U.S. 131 construction.

Work, which started April 15, is concentrated to an area that includes the village of Schoolcraft and an area north to Shaver Road.

According to Jacobs, southbound lane closures and a detour are in place at the north end of Schoolcraft.

Meanwhile, crews recently performed hot-mix asphalt removal from south of the railroad crossing north to Lyons Street. Complete pavement removal from the southbound lanes took place from the railroad tracks to Lyons Street.

The project’s two-week outlook includes milling and hot-mix asphalt paving south of the village, signal work at Eliza and Lyons streets, storm sewer at the crossover north of U Avenue, building road grade south of Eliza Street, curb and gutter work south of the railroad, and removal of permanent signs.
