Dolores A. “Dee Dee” Wise, age 88, of Sturgis, passed away early Thursday morning, May 9, 2024 at the Center for Hospice Care Esther House in Elkhart.
She was born July 20, 1935, in Battle Creek, a daughter to the late Fahm and Dorothy (Crocker) Mahmet.
Dee Dee resided in Sturgis since 1978 coming from Battle Creek where she was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School with the class of 1954.
On January 5, 1980 in Sturgis, she married Robert Wise.
She had been employed by Casualty Life Insurance Company in Battle Creek, Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis, and she was a foster care mother and homemaker.
Dee Dee was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sturgis, the Mintdale Women’s Club, Quilting Club, and Car Club. She enjoyed canoeing, camping, hiking, and traveling.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years: Robert, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, children: Michael Sturwin, Todd Wise, Beverly Shook, and Brian Wise; sisters: Margaret Randal and Ruby Edwards; brothers: Lawrence Mahmet and Fahm Mahmet.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday, May 13, 2024, at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091.
Services celebrating the life of Dolores “Dee Dee” Wise will be held at 2:00 Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastors Doug Noonkester and Isaiah Shook, officiating. Interment will follow in White Pigeon Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church, 1050 E. Fawn River Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091. Envelopes are available at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
