Vicki A. Budd of Sturgis, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She faced her diagnosis with grace and dignity, the same way she lived her life. A devoted caretaker to the end, she worried less about herself and more about those she would leave behind.
She was born in South Bend, daughter to the late Joseph and Monica Matafin. On September 29, 1973, she married the love of her life, Victor C. Budd. Their marriage of 50 years, never having a dull moment, was filled with laughter and adventures.
Vicki pursued a career in nursing, earning multiple master’s degrees during her prestigious tenure. A driven and talented nurse, she dedicated her life to serving her patients and community. Her work philosophy was to treat everyone fairly and to never ask someone to do a job that she would not do herself. She retired from St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
As a mother and grandmother, she treasured and adored her kids and grandkids. She showed her love by passing down Polish and Hungarian family traditions. She was an avid reader, spoiler of all animals (including her granddogs and grandcats), and enjoyed traveling with her family and spending her winters in Florida.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Victor; daughters: Jenny (Chris) Stilwell and Kristen (Jared) Budd-Roberts; grandchildren: Chelsie, Ashley, and Alexis; sister: Sandra (Bob) Nawrocki; brother: Greg (Vicki) Matafin; and her beloved dog, Saber.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Clare Catholic Church, 23126 M-86, Centreville, on June 8, 2024 at 12:00 PM EST. Doors will open for visitation at 11:00 AM EST. Come celebrate a life well lived and well loved!
