Thurston Woods board member receives award

Thurston Woods CEO Tim Stoll said a member of its board of directors has received a state-wide award.

Debora Capman was named “Trustee of the Year” by LeadingAge Michigan. The honor was announced at an awards event April 30.

Each award winner was nominated by their peers and selected by a group of committee members from among many nominations across the state.

The honor recognizes an individual who has served with distinction on the governing board of a LeadingAge Michigan member organization, and made an outstanding contribution to the well-being of seniors, the employees who serve them and the organization’s mission.

Stoll said Capman’s background in community service and elder care made her a natural fit for the Thurston Wood Board. As vice president and trust officer at Sturgis Bank, she provided crucial financial guidance to seniors, many of who were Thurston Woods residents, Stoll said.
