Carl Wayne Henegar Sr., age 83

Carl Wayne Henegar Sr., 83 years old, of Schoolcraft, passed away Tuesday, June 18th, 2024 at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall.

Carl was born January 20, 1941, in Kankakee, Illinois, the son of Carl and Verla Henegar, and graduated from Monroe High School.

Carl served 2 tours in Vietnam with the rank of Sergeant First Class.

He worked and retired from GM.

On June 7th, 1967 Carl married Bettie Collins. They were married and devoted to each other until Bettie passed away in 2017.

Carl enjoyed time with his family, loved playing golf, having his weekly poker games on Sunday, and his annual trip to Las Vegas with his close friends.

Carl transferred from the Ypsilanti plant to open the new Three Rivers GM plant in 1979, where he and Bettie raised their family.

Carl also owned and operated Carl’s Party Stop on South Main St. in Three Rivers while working at GM.

Carl battled Leukemia for 6 and a half years before passing.

Remaining to cherish his memory are one brother, Chuck (Kathy) Jennings; two sons, Wayne (Connie) Henegar of Schoolcraft and Bryan (Robyn) Hoffer, of Muncie, IN; three daughters, Rittia (David) Morris and Page Vaillancourt (Tom Leland), both of Portage, and Patricia (Joseph) Amadio of Marcellus; 13 grandchildren, Brandon, Hollie, and Austin Morris, Katie (Matt) Losik, Kayla (Chris) Mastos, Garrett Henegar, Breiann, Corey, and Lance Haag, Josh and Haleigh Hoffer, Antonio and Domonic Amadio; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie, on May 21, 2017.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27th, 2024 at Hohner Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m., a funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Hohner Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Miller officiating. He will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery on Friday, June 28th, 2024 at 11:30 a.m.

Donations in Carl’s name may be directed to Elks Lodge #1248 or Three Rivers Eagles #2303, Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
