Sturgis schools looking for new assistant superintendent

Sturgis Public Schools officials are in the process of hiring a replacement for an administrator who retired last month.

Assistant Superintendent Nicole Gittinger, a 15-year district employee, served as principal at Wall Elementary School, principal at Eastwood Elementary School and since 2017 as assistant superintendent.

She was previously a principal at White Pigeon Community Schools.

Her job listing is being posted through Friday. Superintendent Art Ebert said phone-screening interviews will occur as applications are submitted.

Next, the first round of interviews will take place starting the week of July 16. Follow-up interviews are scheduled for July 18. Ebert said the district’s board of education will hold a special meeting July 22 to make a recommendation to approve a final candidate.
