Bill Hickmott, 96

William Arthur Hickmott of Moon Township, PA died peacefully at the age of 96 on July 6, 2024 with the love of his life, Patricia Hickmott, by his side.  William, or Bill, as he was known to his family and friends, was born on July 7th, 1927 in Kalamazoo. He grew up in Mendon with his parents William Arthur Hickmott and Helen Marie McHugh Hickmott, as well as his sister, Sister Claver. He was pre-deceased by his son Michael Hickmott.

Bill had a deep love for the river, which inspired him to join the Navy. Bill joined the navy following his graduation from high school. Shortly after completing his time with the Navy he was quickly drafted again by the Army. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, he enrolled in the University of Western Michigan, where he graduated with his degree in Business. He was a manager of Sunbeam Appliances until his retirement. Bill’s work allowed him to travel across New York and Chicago until his transfer to Pittsburgh where he resided the rest of his years. Bill was an adventurer and world-wide traveler with his wife, as well as his good friends and family. His love for travel led him to experience Ireland, Scotland, England, and various other countries. Bill was an extraordinary Minister at St. Margaret Mary’s Church for many years. He was an avid tennis player and had a strong love for the game of Bridge. He was also a chairman for Moon Area Duplicate for many years.  His sharp wit, sense of humor, and easy-going nature made Bill easy to be loved by many. He had a strong appetite for food and drink, especially a glass of Johnny Walker Red.

Bill is survived by his favorite daughter, Ann Danforth (John) and his son Joseph Hickmott (Tina). As well as his many grandchildren/great grandchildren including Beau Danforth, Carley Danforth, Cole Danforth, Matthew Hickmott (Katrina), Nicolas Hickmott, Joseph Hickmott, Justice Hickmott, Connor Hickmott, Emily Hickmott, Ronald Hickmott and Isabella Hickmott. His surviving extended family includes his many nieces, nephews and their spouses.

Friends will be received at the R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Twp on Sunday, July 14th from 4 to 7 pm. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10:30 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary Church at 11 AM.  A private family burial will take place at St. Edwards Cemetery in Mendon.
