Michigan Department of Transportation’s Chris Jacobs has issued an update regarding the second phase of U.S. 131 construction.
The project, which started April 15, is concentrated to an area that includes the village of Schoolcraft and an area north to Shaver Road.
According to Jacobs, completed work includes road built to grade from Lyons Road to the railroad crossing; storm sewer installed along the southbound stretch of U.S. 131; and hot-mix asphalt base and leveling from Eliza Street to Lyons Street.
The two-week outlook includes sidewalk installation at XY Avenue; permanent signs installed south of Lyons Street to XY Avenue; curb and sidewalk south of Eliza Street; and hot-mix asphalt base and level at the railroad crossing.
Meanwhile, MDOT officials expect to switch traffic from the outside lane to the median lane north of Lyons Street this week.
