An Elkhart man was hospitalized after he disobeyed a stop sign and caused a multi-vehicle crash in Cass County’s Porter Township.
Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called at 4 p.m. Monday to Union Road and Mason Street in response to a three-vehicle crash.
Investigators said a vehicle driven by the Elkhart man was heading west on Mason Street and failed to stop at the Union Road intersection. It crashed into a southbound vehicle driven by Paul Zinich, 60, also of Elkhart.
Zinich’s vehicle subsequently struck a car stopped on Union Road at the west side of the intersection. That vehicle was driven by 52-year-old Jones resident Bill Scarberry.
Zinich and Scarberry were treated at the scene. Deputies said the male driver was transported to Elkhart General Hospital.
