Burr Oak delays start of school

Burr Oak Community Schools officials announced the district is forced to delay the start of its 2024-25 academic year until after Labor Day.

Classes were to start Monday next week but due to construction-related delays, the first day has been pushed to Sept. 3, district officials said.

Board members are expected to discuss how the delayed start will affect the last day of school and whether modifications can be made to prevent the district from ending the school year late into June.

Elsewhere in St. Joseph County, Mendon Community Schools marks its first day Aug. 26; all other districts begin Monday next week.
