Project Connects returns to fairgrounds

Here’s a reminder that St. Joseph County Project Connect returns to St. Joseph County Fairgrounds’ Henningsen Show Arena 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

Project Connect is a resource fair targeting low-income families and the homeless population.

According to Laura Brott, St. Joseph County Human Services Commission Collaborative Coordinator and event chair, attendees will have access to information, health services and other amenities.

In its 19th year, St. Joseph County Project Connect has expanded its outreach efforts to include a wide variety of services including legal aide, health, education, employment, food and household, recovery, and more. Health screenings this year will include stroke screens, blood glucose, blood pressure and osteoporosis screens.

Sturgis Walgreen’s pharmacy will administer free flu shots. COVID shots and boosters will also be available through the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency.

Meanwhile, South Michigan Food Bank, along with Community Action, will provide food boxes and a fresh-food distribution to attendees.

According to Brott, approximately 200 households in SJC were served at 2023 Project Connect.
