Judith Helen (Wallaert) Knepple, age 82, of Goshen, and a former longtime Sturgis resident, passed away early Sunday afternoon, October 6, 2024, at the Laurels of Goshen.
She was born September 16, 1942, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Harry and Gwendolyn (Carrier) McQuiston.
Judy resided in Goshen for the past 6 years coming from Lofton, Nevada. She also resided in Vandalia and in Sturgis for several years.
On January 20, 1961, she married Darrel L. “Wally” Wallaert in Moses Lake, Washington. He preceded he in death November 8, 1985. She married Max Knepple in Bullhead, Arizona on February 15, 1992, and he preceded her in death December 26, 2001.
Judy had been employed by Sturgis Hospital for over 20 years as head of patient accounts.
She was a member of the Sturgis Sweet Adelines. Judy enjoyed helping Max on the farm, traveling and loved time spent with her granddaughter and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter: Deanne Wallaert of Aston, Pennsylvania; granddaughter: Stephanie Judith (Marc) Dunker of Goshen; great grandchildren: Allena Berendt and Liam Dunker; brother: Don McQuiston of Meadville, Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Brother: Dale McQuiston and sister: Marian Hewitt.
In honoring Judy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Private family services and interment of the remains will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Harmonsburg, Pennsylvania at a later date.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
