James Burmeister, age 74, of Vandalia, passed away on March 9, 2011 in his residence following a long illness. Jim was born May 15, 1936 in Appleton, WI the son of Ervin H. and Viola M. (Kinney) Burmeister.
On May 15, 1998 in Leland, MI he married Charlene M. (Buckhold) DeWeerd who survives. He had lived at his present residence the past five years and previously at Jones and Marcellus. He formerly was employed as a deliveryman of recreational vehicles for Star Fleet of Elkhart. He formerly owned and operated Lakeside Campground in Jones and Jim’s Body Shop in Marcellus. Prior to that he had been employed at Armstrong Appliances in Kalamazoo. He enjoyed collecting antique automobiles.
Surviving besides his wife, Charlene, are three daughters, Sue, Nancy, & Shelly; three sons, Bill, Randy, and Keith; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth, Betty, and Beverly; one brother, Bill; and many nieces and nephews. Eight brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 Monday, March 21, 2011 in Marcellus Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Three Rivers Health Hospice or the Marcellus Rocket Football. Cremation arrangements were handled by the Mater Funeral Home, Marcellus.
