Three area varsity football teams remain in the hunt for a state championship, as Constantine, Mendon and Schoolcraft survived opening-round playoff contests last weekend.
In 8-man, Division 1 action, a pair of 9-1 teams will square off in St. Joseph County, as Mendon hosts Martin. The Hornets topped Climax-Scotts last weekend, while Martin avenged its only loss of the season by defeating Gobles.
Meanwhile, 7-3 Constantine has advanced after beating Parchment in the opening round of Division 6 playoff action last weekend. The Falcons travel to Olivet to play the 8-2 Eagles. That game starts at 7 o’clock tonight.
Finally, in Division 7, Schoolcraft defeated Bronson last weekend and now travels to Lawton for a 7 o’clock contest this evening. The Eagles are 9-1, while Lawton enters the game at 8-2 after a win over Coloma a week ago.
Schoolcraft won a regular-season contest between the two teams, 17-3, back in October.
