Michigan State Police has issued a media release related to a series of incidents occurring at Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater.
Investigators said a number of situations in May 2023 involved several people attempting to smuggle contraband into the prison.
The contraband was intercepted, however, before it reached prisoners.
A joint investigation was started between Michigan Department of Corrections and Michigan State Police into this incident and others spanning into early 2024.
Multiple suspects were eventually identified.
A 24-year-old Grand Rapids woman was arrested and charged with felony drug-related offenses.
Authorities said the woman’s name will not be released prior to arraignment.
