Three area varsity football teams advanced toward a state championship following victories last weekend.
The next step for Mendon, Constantine and Schoolcraft will be taken this weekend.
In 8-man, Division 1 action, Mendon, 10-1, hosted Martin High School last weekend and claimed a 26-22 win. The Hornets are one win away from playing for a state title but first must beat Deckerville. The contest against the 11-0 Eagles is at 1 p.m. Saturday in Sanilac County.
Meanwhile, in Division 6, 8-3 Constantine has advanced after beating Olivet a week ago. The Falcons travel to Jackson to play 10-1 Lumen Christi, who won by a 21-point margin against Ida High School last week.
The Constantine-Lumen Christi game also begins at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Finally, in Division 7, Schoolcraft shutout Lawton last weekend and now travels to Hudson for a 1 p.m. contest Saturday. The Eagles are 10-1, while Hudson enters the game at 10-1 after a win over Union City a week ago.
