Allan A. Kramer, age 80, of Mendon, passed away at his home unexpectedly on Saturday, November 16, 2024. He was born in Chicago on January 6, 1944 the son of Alfred and Katherine (Kocinski) Kramer. Allan attended Chicago Vocational High School and was part of the 1965 graduating class. Following graduation, Allan joined the United States Army where he served his country honorably for two years. On May 18, 1968 he married the love of his life, Patricia Starzak in Chicago. Allan was a fireman in Glenwood, IL for nearly 25 years, helping and protecting his community. He was involved in many extra-curricular activities in the community, helping coach little league games, teaching the local girl scouts and boy scouts the basics on how to tie knots, and helping any way he could. When he had the time, Allan was a dedicated family man, assisting his children in their events, and especially, his grandchildren whom he adored so much, assigned them all a number. Cooking breakfast was his specialty, both for his family and his church family. In his spare, but rare free time, he loved to read mystery novels and how to books (to help him tinker on odd jobs), and tending to his vegetable garden. Allan was never short a story or a joke, and on occasion, he would meld the two together and make you wonder if he was pulling your leg or being serious. He was a simple guy who enjoyed the simple things in life; a great breakfast and his wonderful family.
Allan is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Kramer; four children; Amy (Paul) Wilk, Allan (Laura) Kramer, Phil Kramer, and Trisha (Mark) Lustig; fourteen grandchildren; Kayla #1, Jeremiah #2, Tyler #3, Patrick #4, Tessa #5, Miranda #6, Joshua #7, Rae #8, Elaina #9, Gavin #10, Justin #11, Kristen #12, Jennifer #13, and Noah #14; one great granddaughter, Charlotte; two siblings; Karen (Ray) Kawa and Lauren (Dennis) Zalewski; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Joyce (Gerald) Miller.
Visitation for Allan will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 10am until 11:45am at the Eickhoff Funeral Home (311 W Main Street, Mendon, MI 49072). Following visiting hours, a mass will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church (332 State Street, Mendon, MI 49072) at 12 Noon with Msgr. Thomas Martin officiating. Burial will immediately follow at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery. It is suggested that memorials be made to either St. Edward Catholic Church or Mendon Township Library.
