Dorothy M. Reinoehl, age 99, of Leonidas, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
Dorothy was born Dec. 14, 1910, in Leonidas, a daughter to the late Ernest and Hannah (Lyster) Bennett.
She had lived all of her life in Leonidas, graduating from Colon High School with the Class of 1928. She had spent her winters in Florida since the 1940s.
She enjoyed music and performing in a dance band, where she met her husband Clarence Michael (Ike) Reinoehl. Together they owned and operated a fruit farm, they also operated a popcorn stand at Galesburg Speedway and a taffy business at many county fairs, which is still in operation.
Dorothy is survived by one son, Randy Michael Reinoehl and wife Victoria of Sturgis; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence; one infant son, Robert; and a brother, Ralph Bennett.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon. Funeral services celebrating the life of Dorothy M. Reinoehl will be Saturday morning Dec. 19, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Klafehn of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Sturgis officiating. Burial will follow at Leonidas Cemetery in Leonidas.
If desired the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Dorothy to the St. Joseph County Grange Fair. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
