Crash with injuries

Three people were hospitalized after they were involved in a two-vehicle crash last week south of Jones in Cass County’s Porter Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called shortly before 6 p.m. Friday to the intersection of M-40 and Shavehead Lake Road in response to a crash with injuries.

Investigators said 22-year-old Thomas Yoder was driving east on Shavehead Lake Road when he allegedly failed to yield to traffic on M-40.

Yoder’s vehicle struck a car driven by Christopher Bingaman, 39, of Constantine. Bingaman was driving north on M-40. His vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in a field.

Authorities said Bingaman’s passengers, 39-year-old Matthew Walter of Three Rivers, and a juvenile, were taken to Bronson Hospital. Yoder was treated at the scene.

Investigators said it appears the incident did not involve drugs or alcohol.
