Investigation continues in fatal Branch County crash

Michigan State Police troopers are continuing their investigation into a fatal crash that occurred over the weekend in Branch County’s Sherwood Township.

Investigators said troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning at the intersection of Athens Road and Dunks Road.

Troopers said a 39-year-old Union City woman was driving a Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Athens Road. The vehicle continued through the three-way intersection, left the roadway and rolled multiple times.

The victim, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt and authorities said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
