Brian Eric Sandell, age 67, a lifelong resident of Sturgis, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2024 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
He was born November 12, 1957 in Sturgis, a son to the late Theodore H. and Dorothy L. (Hough) Sandell.
Brian graduated from Sturgis High School with the class of 1977 and was employed at Kala Craft Construction Company.
He enjoyed fishing, model trains, yardwork, and was a member of the Michiana Audubon Society. Brian also did volunteer work for Thurston Woods Village and was the primary caregiver for his parents before they passed away.
Surviving are two sisters: Susan Vetter of Fort Wayne and Patricia Apps of Sturgis; Three nieces: Jennifer (Randy) Falkenstein of Sturgis, Lisa (Paul Siefert) Vetter of Fort Wayne, and Makia Holland; 2 nephews: Thomas Vetter of Fort Wayne and Marshall (Rebecca) Scheetz of Williamsburg, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law: William Apps.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service celebrating the life of Brian E. Sandell will be held August 13, 2025 at McDowell Cemetery in South Haven. Memorial donations in Brian’s memory may be directed to the St. Joseph County C.O.A., Sturgis Activities Fund, 306 N. Franks Ave., Sturgis, MI 49091.
