Centreville begins search for new principal

Centreville Public Schools has started its search for a new principal.

During Monday’s board of education meeting, district officials accepted the resignation of Allen Meyer, jr./sr. high school principal.

Meyer, who came to Centreville from Sturgis Public Schools, is completing his first year in the role.

District officials did not indicate what prompted the resignation, other than it is effective at the end of the current school year. Meyer and his wife are natives of the east side of the state.

In other business, the board accepted the resignation of kindergarten teacher Betsy Breitenbach, who is retiring after three years with the district. She came to Centreville following a lengthy career with Vicksburg Community Schools.

Also, the board approved fourth grade’s annual two-night stay at Camp Eberhart.
