Cass County set to hire new county administrator

Cass County is poised to hire a new county administrator.

County officials said the board of commissioners conducted a special meeting last week and agreed to offer a contract to Patrick Jordan.

Jordan, who most recently served as administrator of Ionia County, would replace Matthew Newton, who resigned late last year. The county’s highest-ranking, non-elected position has been filled on an interim basis by finance director Jennifer Rentfrow.

Jordan’s appointment is subject to a background check and contract negotiations.

County Board members reviewed more than 20 applications and eventually conducted final interviews with members of a pool that included Jordan.

The search was facilitated by Michigan Leadership Institute, a consulting firm specializing in hiring county administrators and school superintendents.
