John Paul “JP” Lewis, 35

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John Paul Lewis, affectionately known to all as JP, who passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, following a tragic accident. He was 35 years old.

He was born December 21, 1989 in Kalamazoo, to father Constable Augusta and mother Lonnette Lewis.

He attended Three Rivers High School, graduating in 2008, where he was not only known for his vibrant spirit and infectious energy but also his incredible sportsmanship while playing baseball and football. JP brought immense joy and laughter into the lives of everyone he met. He was truly the life of every party, known for his incredible sense of humor and his deep love for having fun. More than that, he was a remarkably kind and generous soul who genuinely loved to help others, always willing to lend a hand or offer a comforting word. His compassion and unwavering willingness to support those around him touched countless lives.

JP worked with his family at Grand Rental Station for years. He aspired to be a Heavy Equipment Operator and attended a trade school in Wisconsin where he finished his program at the top of his class. He loved the outdoors and spent most of his time on Pleasant Lake where he was born and raised.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his mother Lonnette Wood, step-father Dale Wood, sister Leah Augusta, step-brother Kody Wood, son Greyson Scott Lewis, and grandfather Darrell Lewis.

He was preceded in death by his father Constable Augusta, and his beloved grandmother Mary Jo Lewis.

His family will receive friends Thursday, July 17, 2025 beginning at 11:00 at Firm Foundation Ministries, 651 E. Main St., Centreville. A memorial service will follow at the same location at noon with Pastor Jamey Smith officiating.

Donations in JP’s memory will be put in a trust fund for his son Greyson Scott Lewis and may be directed to Lonnette Wood. Envelopes will be available at the church and at Hohner Funeral Home.
