Marcellus Village President Dennis Irwin recently shared details related to improvements made to help correct perpetual flooding issues.
Irwin said the work was completed thanks to a state grant in excess of $400,000.
As a result, stormwater management was improved in areas throughout the village, including an area in front of the township’s library and an adjacent business.
The work centered on storm-sewer replacement and narrowing roadways. In addition, East Read Street was repaved and new sidewalks have been added.
The Michigan High Water Infrastructure grant program provided $428,000 toward the project’s cost.
